What Is an XY-Axis Medium-Frequency Automatic Mesh Welder?

What is an XY-axis medium-frequency automatic mesh welder? On this machine the XY-axis die frame is driven by servo motors, and travel speeds are governed by the control system. It automatically completes welding at each spot; after welding it returns to the home position. Operators only need to prepare the next load — cutting labor cost, using welding time for loading, and greatly raising efficiency. It is mainly used for chicken-cage mesh, guard mesh, BBQ mesh and other metal wire panels, so it is also called a mesh welder or livestock-cage mesh welder.

Welding process: 1. Start the machine and enter standby. 2. Place the workpiece into the fixture wire slots and clamp it manually. 3. Push the fixture into the clamping unit for locating and clamping; the X–Y motion system starts automatically; the fixture moves longitudinally and laterally while the upper and lower electrodes move up and down to complete welding. The fixture then moves to the release position for the next fixture. 4. The fixture clamping/locating unit returns to the ready position for the next weld; the operator moves the fixture to unload. 5. Place the workpiece again into the fixture cross slots and clamp manually. 6. Push the fixture into the clamping unit; the X–Y motion system starts again and repeats the welding cycle.

In industrial equipment, medium frequency means roughly 500 Hz to 10,000 Hz; above 10,000 Hz it is called high frequency. Ordinary industrial power is 50 Hz three-phase AC. With lower frequency, transformer losses are larger, energy is wasted, and equipment is bulkier and heavier. Medium frequency stands out with higher power factor, power savings and lighter weight — advantages that matter for XY-axis automatic mesh welders in the market.
